Our Mission

What We Stand For

Darul Arqam is addressing the problem that Muslim parents and children are facing with traditional and western educational institutions. We are trying to integrate Islamic knowledge and values into contemporary curriculum models, so that students are exposed to a more holistic and culturally relevant educational experience.

We aren’t simply offering Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Quran alongside academic studies. We are seamlessly integrating Islamic teachings, history, culture, ethics and morals across a highly competitive academic curriculum. Our comprehensive academic syllabus includes foreign language arts (English and French), history, geography, science, math, religious instruction, and the arts.

Our Vision

Preparing the Leaders of tomorrow

Our institute envisions a nurturing environment where knowledge is pursued for practical benefit. We prioritize providing students with firm knowledge, coupled with moral values and etiquette. By discovering and nurturing their innate skills, we aim to develop leaders in their fields of interest, empowering them to make meaningful contributions to society, insha Allâh.

In traditional Islamic education, memorization holds a vital place, especially in the study of the Quran and Hadith. Students are encouraged to commit texts to memory and recite them accurately. Mastery of foundational knowledge and skills is also prioritized, with an emphasis on acquiring a comprehensive understanding of subjects and achieving proficiency before advancing to higher levels.

Our institute strives to integrate knowledge with moral and ethical values, fostering a harmonious blend of faith and reason. Our aim goes beyond imparting knowledge; we seek to cultivate virtuous qualities, ethical conduct, and a profound sense of community and social responsibility.

Class Schedule | Curricular Activities

We strongly nurture hands-on vocational training and experience. Introducing children to real-life technical and soft skills help reveal their innate God-given talents and interests. This will better prepare and direct them towards their future professions and contributions to the economy and society.

A Little About

Our Director

My name is Wesley Blake, better known to my friends and family as Daawood. I was raised in the United States after migrating from Jamaica with my parents. Shortly after accepting Islam at the age of 21, I relocated to Mauritania to benefit from its rich Islamic history of knowledge and Quran memorization in 2002. After spending 7 years studying in the countryside, I moved to Nouakchott to serve the nation as an English educator for private institutions, high schools and colleges.
