At The Darul Arqam, one of the main focuses of our curriculum is the bond made with the Holy Qur’an. We strive to make Allâh’s Book part of our youths’ lives. This entails diligent memorization of Allaah’s Book, as well Arabic and introductory Tafseer studies. As the child’s ability to memorize strengthens and their minds develop, other texts are gradually introduced into the course. Additional lessons include short Adhkaar (Remembrances) used in our everyday lives, Ahaadeeth (Narrations) related to Faith, Character, Jurisprudence and so on. In addition to memorization, lessons are taught and explained, examples are given, visual aids are utilized, and feedback is sought, in order to ensure that the material covered is well absorbed and thoroughly understood. Math studies are added to the curriculum to aid critical thinking, as math is a foundation for all of our life’s transactions. Also Ourstory is taught, starting from the first man, Adam, may Allâh’s peace be upon him.

“Make an alligence with the Qur’an. By the One in Whose Hand Muhammad’s soul is, it escapes from memory faster than a camel does from its tying ropes.”

Early Childhood Stage

At this stage, children are given the opportunity to learn from each other during play, from the empathy of patience and compassion, and to develop leadership skills and good cooperation with the playing team. This is done through the following educational contents:

    • The memorization of the Noble Qur’an through listening and repeating; 
    • Prophetic hadiths on adhkaar;
    • Training in civic life, cleanliness, instilling respect and patriotism…;
    • Developing children’s cognition and distinguishing sounds, colors and shapes, as well as developing some practical skills;
    • The teaching of Arabic and English (characters, reading, writing, vocabulary…..);
    • Teaching some basic math addition, multiplication, subtraction and division;
    • Teaching some basics of culture (maps of continents, countries, flags);
    • Introduction to the identification of animals and plants and the discovery of some aspects of nature;
    • Physical sports.

Lower Elementary Level

At this stage, the child acquires new knowledge and skills through several different fields of study: studying geography, history, biology, and strengthening the linguistic and arithmetic level. Here the child begins to understand his role in the universe, development, art and physical education, by acquiring the following knowledge:

    • Continuing to memorize the Qur’an;
    • Ahadeeth on worship and morals;
    • Introduction to manual craftsmanship such as disassembling and reassembling some models of different devices;
    • The basics of gardening and some home cultivation;
    • Continuing the study of the Arabic and English languages, reading, writing and grammar;
    • Introduction to French language * ;
    • Continue to study mathematics: fractions, decimals and their operation, basics, geometric figures, arithmetic and volumes;
    • Geography: Planet Earth, its terrain and environment;
    • Principles of the natural sciences, humans, animals, plants and geology;
    • Physical sports.

Upper Elementary Level

Children continue to study from the previous level, based on the acquired knowledge and skills and begins to delve into the details and discover the interrelationship between the information more clearly, and at the end of this stage the child has been brought up with a deep and correct understanding for contemporary life. He has acquired knowledge and skills that enable him to participate in national competitions to enter the preparatory stage in the public and professional fields, while memorizing the Qur’an and acquiring some basic forensic sciences.

In order to achieve this, the Darul Arqam Institute provides the child at this stage with the following materials:

    • Continue memorizing the Noble Qur’an with perfection;
    • Continuing professional crafts, including informatics and some of its sciences;
    • Some basics of sewing, carpentry, blacksmithing, electricity, mechanics, etc.;
    • Human sciences (organs of the human body, their functions and diseases);
    • Continuing to acquire trilingual techniques;
    • Mathematics (calculating areas, volumes, numerical rules, and proportions)
    • Physical sports.

 * French is the second official language of the country. It also makes 40% of the junior high school entrance exam.
