In my 13 year career as an ESL instructor and resident of Mauritania, I have seen a need to create an educational program that centered the rich legacy of Islam while fostering the curiosity and innate genius of children.\u00a0 <\/span>In 2011, I founded The Darul Arqam in Nouakchott and continue to serve as its director.\u00a0 <\/span>The Darul Arqam is a licensed educational institution that serves to bridge the gap between traditional Islamic education and innovative learning pedagogies.\u00a0 <\/span>Since opening more than a decade ago, we have faced a number of financial constraints which has consistently limited the number of children that we are able to serve and uplift.\u00a0 <\/span>For this reason, we request financial assistance from charitable organizations and individuals who share our deep concern and compassion for the future of our ummah.<\/p>\n

This entails diligent memorization of Allaah's Book, as well Arabic and introductory Tafseer studies. As the child's ability to memorize strengthens and their minds develop, other texts are\u00a0gradually introduced into the course.\u00a0Additional lessons include short Adhkaar (Remembrances) used in our everyday lives, Ahaadeeth (Narrations) related to Faith, Character, Jurisprudence and so on.\u00a0In addition to memorization, lessons are taught and explained, examples are given, visual aids are utilized, and feedback is sought, in order to\u00a0ensure that the material covered is well absorbed and thoroughly understood. Math studies\u00a0are added to the curriculum to aid critical thinking, as math is a foundation for all of our life's transactions.
